House Pienaar

Copperleaf Golf & Country Estate, Pretoria

House Pienaar is a new build for a young family. The house is composed of three parallel, linear volumes, conceived as family, utility, and guest respectively. A large double-volume void is cut from the central space, creating comfortable connections between family members in different areas of the house. Formally, the linearity of these spaces is emphasized by extending the roof over the gable ends and minimizing the eaves. Internally, masonry walls are minimized as the client is a shopfitter and joinery is used extensively as an organizational device.
